Sharing and Learning from each other.

Oh! how quickly time passes when you are actively engaged. our week although it was very short was packed with information about the writing workshop and key components such as teaching time, writing time, sharing time, and conferencing time. Giving and getting feedback as we shared our narrative piece with a partner was the highlight of my week along with working in small groups. The different viewpoints and perspectives of each other would help improve our writing and bring clarity to certain aspects of our narrative piece. As we brainstorm in our groups we learn from each other as we share and collaborate. working in groups as we go through the writing process is something I will definitely implement in my classroom as it will cater to shy students while also building collaboration.  Additionally, we saw the positive effect of sharing when one of our colleagues shared how to make changes to our blogs to improve their functionality and ease the stress some of us seem to hav...

Narrative Writing ( Exploding a Moment)

Sunday 22 October, 2023. what a week that was!  ''Exploding a moment'' a new phrase i learned during class this past week and my lecturer really exploded the moment in getting us to understand that phrase. watching movies and reading books to me didn't do any justice to understanding and putting into context that phrase. It was the explanation by our lecturer breaking down each step, using videos, stories, having grand discussions with questions and explanation that aid in my understanding of that phrase is what stood out to me.   I am extremely grateful for being present in class this past week as i would have missed lots of important information such as sensory details, the feelings and emotions of the characters that aids in exploding the moment as we have seen in the video of the flight attendant shown in class. watching that video cemented what our lecturer have been saying and got me to look at my first draft with a very critical eye as it was lacking that ex...

Narrative Writing

Hey Guys! I don't know about you but I feel so overwhelmed. with so much to do and so little time, that I am late in blogging. nevertheless, as we began narrative writing I came to the realization that I can't remember being taught or engaging in that type of writing at the primary level.  As a teacher and a teacher trainee what stood out to me was the story grammar, the characters the story is about, the setting where the story is taking place, the problem the events, road blocks and twists, and the resolution of how was the problem solved. I will ensure that on returning to my classroom my students are given the proper guidance before they begin to write their story. There will be teaching time, writing time, and a time to share. I will give options in choosing topics and ensure students brainstorm and write down their ideas. I definitely don't want my students in the next few years to be saying they were never taught how to do narrative writing, so I will put into pract...

The Writing Process

Hello, their fellow bloggers, in LIT 102 class this week one of our focuses was on  the writing process,  a session that shocked me into consciousness for it seems all my life in school as a student and now as a teacher trainee I was missing key details. working with students with disabilities the focus has always been on preparing them to function in society as independent as possible so the basic of skills was focused on that would cater to that independence.  The writing process stood out to me in that there are five key stages that aid in helping me focus, plan, and write. Prewriting, and drafting. revising, editing, and publishing. what is noteworthy is the overlapping that might take place and the back and forth between the stages making the process recursive rather than linear.  The way Mrs. L thoroughly explained the writing process got me excited as I began to understand and implement the steps in my writing it will provide a solid foundation for me...
