Phew! So, guys, the end is near, and I must say what a semester it was. The journey getting here was a long one from ‘’all about books’’ to the writing process, narrative writing (exploding a moment) writing workshop where we share and learn from each other. 6 + 1 writing traits, persuasive writing. All these writing activities took us to this moment, where we can utilize the strategies learned in our writing and our classroom.
As the curtain comes down on this writing journey, I must
express my gratitude for being a part of such an informative and practical
walk. A walk that leads to analyzing writing done by a child. This concept was
very new to me as previously if given a piece of writing done by a child I would
read try to correct and edit. however, I learned that students' writing had to
be critically analyzed using specific writing traits such as voice, ideas,
presentation, sentence fluency, word choice, and organization (VIPCOWS) the acronym
to remember the traits by. I can now say that if given a child’s writing I am
better equipped given these traits to analyze and critique. I am looking
forward to implementing such in my classroom.
wow, Malanda we were in the boat before enrolling in this course. We can now say on return to the classroom we are better equipped to critically analyze a child's writing. I am happy you willing the writing traits to your classroom.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Miss Noel it was quite an experience indeed. We now have so much ammunition to carry back to rock the classroom. I do believe these techniques, strategies and approaches we now possess will yield effective results for us all. The time has come for the real deal, lets put them to the test and see what will yield. :)
